I love light and don't like anything dark. Because of that we choose to Celebrate All Saint's Day Eve instead of Halloween. We feel that Halloween has morphed from a holy day that celebrated light and love to a holiday that celebrates darkness and fear. From my limited understand Halloween was once called "All Hallows Eve" the night before all Saints Day, a day honoring the good people on earth and remembering our ancestors. Here are some ways we want to try and make October a month of light and “All Hallows Eve" filled with as much light as possible.
On the first of September we try to :
1.
Decorate our home
inside and out for fall & Thanksgiving
a.
Garlands of leaves
b.
Little pilgrim
decorationsc. Anything about giving thanks
In October we:
1.
Want to learn stories
about our ancestors – one a day would be good
2.
Want to do genealogy
and temple work for our ancestors3. Want to learn more about Christ
On All Hallows Eve we:
1.
Want to share our
favorite stories about our ancestors
2.
Want to have a family testimony
meeting - sharing what we know about the gospel3. Try to go to the store and get everyone's favorite healthy treats
4. We get the most uplifting movies we can think of (usually movies about the Savior) and have a family movie night. Some movies that we might pick from this year. If you have any other favorite movies that you think are filled with light, please pass their titles our way.

hard work – marriages can get better and be saved
