Frec MacMurray starred in dozens of movies over the years.  Here are some of our favorites.  We love him best when he stars and the lovable father figure and the likeable guy next door.

We couldn't end this list without giving a shout out to Fred MacMurray in the TV Show My Three Sons.  It lasted 12 years and for good reason.  Fred MacMurray as he plays Steven Douglas is one of our favorite TV Dads.  Here is a short commercial for the show.

20+ Best Teacher Movies that Inspire Us

I know it's summer and school is out, but summer seems to be the perfect time to me to reflect on the great teachers in our lives and to thank them.  It also seems like a perfect time to ponder on the kind of education we want our children and ourselves to have, and to meditate on ways to facilitate that amazing education happening.  The movies below have shown me the power of an amazing teacher.  They inspire me to want to do a better teaching to my children (We homeschool).  They inspire me to do a better job in getting the best education I can for myself and my family.

The Following Films open my eyes to the strengths and the weaknesses of the present public education system.  I think that by knowing problems we are in a better able to help find solutions.




I couldn't end this post without listing Eight Cousins it is a book by Louisa May Alcott.  Though Little Women (another book by her) has been made into a film 5 times, Eight Cousins has never been made into a movie.  I had to include it because it was one of the books that formed some of my first opinions on what a good education should be like.  I homeschool my children in part because of this book.  You can read it or listen to the free audio book on LibriVox.

40 Movies Against Prejudice

 We believe that every human on earth is a child of God.  That we are all brothers and sisters, and that we should love one another as we would want to be loved and treat people the way we would want to be treated.  I'll be sharing some of our favorite movies on this subject, but first I wanted to start with one of our favorite songs on the subject.



We love that The Constitution of the United States of America says among other things - "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."


All that said, here are some of our favorite movies that remind us that 
prejudice is never good
and that we always want to stand up against prejudice  
and treat people as the brothers and sisters that we really are.

**While most of the movie we recommend are family friendly, these films deal with prejudice and often include a depiction of violence or other adult issue that took place.  Our suggestion is that you view them first to decide for yourself what is appropriate for your family standards.

Although the short TED Talk below is not I thought it was important to include because there is so much discrimination against poverty and equal education seems to be a great way out.

I don't have many movies about discrimination against Hispanics or Women or American Indians simply because I'm not familiar with movies about the subject.  But if you know of some, please include them in the comments.
